Since 1922, the YMCA Retirement Fund has employed sound investment strategies with investment professionals. Today, the portfolio managers that make up the equities and alternative investment departments have an average of 22 years of investment experience and strong educational backgrounds that allow for a very competitive investment operation.
Victor J. Raskin has been the chief investment officer of the Fund since November of 2000. Vic's 39-year investment career began as an investment analyst at Dean Witter, where he was a perennial Institutional Investor All-American Analyst. Vic then moved on to portfolio management as a partner with Tallasi Management. From there, he moved to Smith Barney as a managing director and a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Prior to joining the Fund, he was a senior equity portfolio manager for Nicholas Applegate. Vic has a BA in economics from Washington Jefferson College and for many years was vice chairman of the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater. He also has an MBA in investments from New York University. Vic has been a long-term volunteer with the St. Thomas Soup Kitchen in New York. | Denita Grinnard, Assistant Vice President/Cash Manager, has been with the Fund since 1995. She manages the Fund's short term cash and works closely with the Fund's custodian, JPMorgan Chase, with the movement of funds. She holds a BS in accounting from Rutgers University. | Louise A. Howard, Senior Investment Analyst, has been with the Fund since 2005. She is responsible for the selection and ongoing due diligence of the Fund's outside investment managers. Louise has over 20 years of investment experience, including foreign exchange trading, fixed income portfolio management and hedge fund-of-funds due diligence. Prior to joining the Fund, she worked in a similar capacity as a senior investment specialist with Diversified Investment Advisors, a firm with $16 billion in assets under management. Louise has a BA in French and an MBA with a finance concentration from the University of New Orleans. She is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and New York Society of Security Analysts. She also holds the CAIA designation. Louise has been a volunteer with numerous organizations including company-sponsored mentoring programs, Literacy Volunteers and New York Cares. | David Landau, Vice President—Alternative Investments, has been with the Fund since 2001. He is responsible for selecting and overseeing the partnerships that make up the Fund’s private equity portfolio. David previously worked for Lucent Technologies as manager of the private equity portfolio of their $40 billion pension fund. He has held previous positions with Paine Webber and Equitable Capital where he managed a private equity portfolio and participated in over thirty corporate transactions. David earned a BA in economics from the University of Cape Town in South Africa and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University. | Everett B. ("Skip") Miller, III, Vice President—Alternative Investments, has been with the Fund since 2003. He is responsible for selecting and overseeing the partnerships that make up the Fund’s real estate program. Skip was previously chief operating officer at Commonfund Realty, Inc. and a member of the senior management committee of its parent, Commonfund. Prior to that time, he was the principal investment officer for real estate and for alternative investments at the State of Connecticut Retirement and Trust Funds, also serving on the internal investment committee. Skip spent 18 years with the Travelers Realty Investment Company (and its predecessors), serving as the fiduciary for pension funds entrusted to the Travelers. Skip is now a member of the board of Cedar Shopping Centers, an NYSE-listed corporation. Skip holds a BA from Yale University. | John Moore has been with the Fund since 2003. He directly assists the Fund’s chief investment officer in the selection and monitoring of non-traditional assets, and helps monitor the fixed income portion of the portfolio. Previously, John was the worldwide director of pension investments for Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., overseeing $8 billion of qualified and non-qualified pension plans in twenty-four countries. Prior to joining Marsh & McLennan, his career was largely devoted to fixed income management. With a professional investment career spanning 36 years, John's previous positions included director of fixed income for Westinghouse Pension Investments Corporation, and director of fixed income for Calvin Bullock Ltd. John is a graduate of Pace University. | Irina Tanenbaum, Alternative Investments Analyst, has been with the Fund since 2007. She is responsible for supporting the Fund’s private equity and real estate programs. Prior to joining the Fund, she was an investment analyst at Metropolitan Life Insurance, working in private equity, capital markets and international investments. Irina holds a BS in finance from Rutgers University School of Business and an MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University. |
