John M. Preis became president and chief executive officer of the Retirement Fund in 2000. Prior to joining the Fund, he was associate dean for Finance and Administration at Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. Before that, John worked for the YMCA for 17 years. He was vice president of Finance and Personnel at the YMCA of Metropolitan Hartford in Connecticut and senior vice president and chief financial officer of the YMCA of Greater New York. John recently served on the advisory council of the Financial Accounting Standards Board and develops financial management training modules for the YMCA of the USA. He volunteers as a basketball coach and referee for the CYO, YMCA and Special Olympics. John holds an MBA in finance from Hofstra University, and a BS in economics from Quinnipiac University. | Victor J. Raskin, has been the chief investment officer of the Fund since November of 2000. Vic's 39-year investment career began as an investment analyst at Dean Witter, where he was a perennial Institutional Investor All-American Analyst. Vic then moved on to portfolio management as a partner with Tallasi Management. From there, he moved to Smith Barney as a managing director and a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Prior to joining the Fund, he was a senior equity portfolio manager for Nicholas Applegate. Vic has a BA in economics from Washington Jefferson College and for many years was vice chairman of the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees at his alma mater. He also has an MBA in investments from New York University. Vic has been a long-term volunteer with the St. Thomas Soup Kitchen in New York. | Vanessa A. Boulous, Senior Vice President – YMCA Relations, works to maximize the Fund's relationship with the YMCA Movement, acting as representative of the Fund and advancing the Fund's mission in all YMCA circles. Vanessa, a YMCA senior director, has been a YMCA leader since 1985, heading YMCAs on both the East and West Coasts. She started as associate executive director/program director at the YMCA of Philadelphia, PA. From there, Vanessa advanced to CEO and executive director leadership positions at YMCAs in Allentown, PA; the San Francisco Bay Area, CA; and Flemington, NJ. She recently served as senior resource director at the YMCA of the USA, where she managed and led a consultant team, providing services to 270 YMCAs across the Northeast. Vanessa holds a BS in sport & recreation management from the University of Delaware. | Elliott C. Buchholz, Chief Information Officer, oversees the creation and maintenance of the Fund's computer systems and the development of applications for the departments that serve participants, YMCAs and retirees. He also oversees the technical development of the Fund's website. Previously, Elliott was director of Medical Management Systems at Prudential Healthcare and director of MIS for HIP Health Plan of New Jersey, and applications development manager for AT&T. He holds a BA in English from Rutgers University, as well as an associate degree in computer science. | Vincent M. De Sio, Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for financial and regulatory reporting and all financial management at the Fund except for investment management. Prior to joining the Fund, Vince worked at the World Gold Council as the director of Finance and Administration. He holds a BA with a dual major in accounting and economics from Queens College, City University of New York as well as an MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University. | James G. Kirschner, Senior Vice President - Strategic Development, oversees the Fund's communications and customer service. He also works with Management and the Trustees to formulate long-term strategies and to ensure that current objectives are in support of the Fund's mission, vision and values. James is a YMCA senior director who began his YMCA career in 1984. Prior to joining the Fund, he was the principal in his own consulting practice, focusing on strategic management and leadership issues. He has been an adjunct professor at the graduate level at Columbia University, Adelphi University, and Springfield College. He earned a BA in economics at Trinity College and an MBA at Columbia Business School. | John Quiñones, Secretary and General Counsel, is the Fund’s chief legal officer. Prior to joining the Fund, John was a partner with Dewey & LeBoeuf, where he counseled public and private corporations, financial service companies, asset managers and private investment funds with regards to general corporate matters, corporate and real estate finance transactions, and investments in securities and real estate. John also served as managing counsel at TIAA-CREF. He holds a BS in industrial & labor relations from Cornell University and a JD from New York University School of Law. |
